Cruising is something we both said we would never do, but so many people talk about how great they are so we decided to give it a try. Our first cruise was back in 2012 and given our apprehension with cruising we decided to do a small 3 night cruise out of Singapore. The cruise left Singapore and stopped at Kuala Lumpur and Phuket. Its funny because we literally had just left Phuket, but we knew if we hated it we could get off the boat in Phuket and make our own way back to Singapore. We have since been on 3 other cruises and each time they get a little longer. Our next cruise adventure is set for November 2015 cruising out of San Juan for 7 nights around the Caribbean. Royal Caribbean is our cruise company of choice and we have truly become addicted to cruising. To ensure we don’t get caught up in only cruising we are now linking a cruise into a bigger holiday so we get the best of both worlds. Whats great about cruises is that you literally don’t need to plan anything once you are on board and alcohol aside, there is little to pay for once your on board. No other holiday includes restaurant dinning every night and there is just so much to keep you entertained, or you can do nothing but relax by the pool. If you choose to cruise with Royal Caribbean make sure you join the Crown and Anchor Society, RC’s loyalty program. The benefits kick in on your second cruise and just keep getting better. Being a Crown and Anchor Society member also enhances the check in process. Dinning on the cruise, you have the choice of my time dinning where you dine with your fellow travellers only rather than sharing another table with other passengers. You also get to choose your dinning time each night. There are lots of options for pre paid alcohol packages. My advice – wait till you board the ship on day 1 and you can see exactly whats included before you make your purchase. Just remember that alcohol packages can only be purchased on boarding day. There is so much entertainment on board from shows in the theatre to bands in the bars. My favourite place to hang out in late in the evening is the cigar lounge “The Connoisseur Club” with a nice port and a cigar. During the day lazing by the pool is the perfect option.
